The Village of Pueblo Modelo

These are just a few photos to give everyone a glimpse of this beautiful village.  The people are warm and welcoming.  There is no electricity or running water.  They eat tortillas and black beans for every meal....rice is too expensive.  They are some of the happiest people I have ever met....
Surrounded by mountains
Wash day
A typical home
The community store.....that serves the 4,500 living in the village!

  4. Okay, so I will refrain from complaining about doing laundry from now on. And, Mol, I intend to show Colleen the photo of the laundry routine in Pueblo Modelo when I leave her a list of tasks to do today while I'm at work. Once again, these photos amaze me and leave me at a loss for words as all I can come up with is "wow!" You are accomplishing so much in such a short time. I don't think those children are going to want to let you come home. I can't wait to hear their names and learn more about them! We miss you so much, Mol, and love you and are so grateful to see your smile. Are you writing in your journal? Don't forget!! Love you so much, Mom (and Dad who is at work--loved the work boots, btw, and Colleen who is, of course, still asleep). XOXOXOXO

  5. P.S. Maddie, your mom sent an e-mail last night saying she is having trouble getting to and posting to the blog but she will keep trying. She loves you and misses you!
