Day Three

We just returned from our first work day in Pueblo Modela.  This village is the one shown at the start of our blog.  There are 4,500 residents living there since their homes were destroyed by Hurricane Mitch 5 years ago.  They have no running water or electricity.  Today, we dug the holes for the footings for the water tower and cut and tied rebar in the sweltering heat.  We were sure to drink lots of water and wear sunscreen.

On the way "home", we stopped by to deliver the wheelchair that we custom assembled for a 15 year old boy with C.P.  This boy had traveled from El Salvadore with his family for this.  There was hardly a dry eye watching this boy and his family accepting this gift.

We are heading to dinner now.  Will post photos later tonight.
